Well, work has slowed considerably here at Fox Run Farms. The Collin County Fire Marshal has issued a burn ban for all outdoor burning, including bonfires, campfires, and other ground fires. This puts a considerable crimp in our work, since clearing land means burning the brush. We’ll continue to build the burn pile to legal limits and to fill the trailer, but if we can’t burn, we can only do so much. The ban will be lifted in 90 days (Nov. 26) or when the conditions become favorable to burning.
It seems that we have a new inhabitant at Fox Run Farms…an armadillo. Roo and I surprised him (maybe he surprised us) the other night and he raninto the woods. I haven’t seen him since, but he has left his mark in the form of shallow holes in the flower bed and grass enar the flower bed. He joins the roadrunners, rabbits, hawks, and the once-sighted bobcat here. Fortunately for him, he’s left the roses alone. I leave you with a picture of “The Last Rose of Summer”from one of our rose bushes.
